Smart Services Bridge

Under the coordination of TUA West, Dockwize, Howest, HZ University of Applied Sciences, OC West and VIVES set up smart services for SMEs in the Flanders-Netherlands border region. This was done on the one hand through the development or improvement of innovative products or services (innovation paths), and on the other hand by supporting the companies in the implementation of these innovations (valorization paths).

Between 2019 and 2022, 63 companies entered into a collaboration with (one of) the colleges; 24 of them also received valorization support. The collaborations covered diverse topics in the fields of Energy, Life sciences and Health, Agrofood, Mechanical Engineering & Mechatronics, Advanced Materials and Logistics.

Fraise de Guillaume and VIVES: a fruitful collaboration

At the request of Fraises de Guillaume, VIVES explored the possibility of bottling the “Strawberry Daiquiri,” an existing cocktail based on fresh strawberries and white rum, into a ready-to-serve variant.

Howest helps make Offroad Solutions’ dream a reality

Offroad Solutions has been working since 2009 to realize its dream: to make the beach accessible to anyone with a functional disability. Despite the many aids already available, it remains a challenge to get people who use their own wheelchairs on the beach as well. Howest took up the challenge!
