About TUA West

Expert groups

One of the instruments TUA uses to promote cooperation between knowledge institutions and valorize knowledge are thematic expert groups in which researchers from all West Flanders knowledge institutions sit.

Focus

We focus here on the Factories for the Future sectors, namely ‘Blue Energy’, ‘New Materials’, ‘Mechanical Engineering & Mechatronics’, ‘Food’ and ‘Care’. Those five knowledge sites are identified as top sectors within the Province of West Flanders. Recently, ‘Drones’ and ‘Sustainable Building’ were also included as additional spearheads.

Network

Connecting researchers from different knowledge institutions and building a network.

Infrastructure

Map and open up the expertise and infrastructure available in our province to interested parties.

Projects

Set up investment and working projects so that the West Flanders top sectors can continue to innovate. In order to realize these projects, we will look for external funding resources.

Actions

Take actions to better align the ongoing educational curriculum with the needs of the market.

Events

Organize or participate in networking events that draw attention to the sector and highlight the offerings from the expert groups towards companies.
