Internationalization
Cooperation China
The province of West Flanders and the Chinese province of Zhejiang have a long tradition of cooperation in economics, agriculture and education. Because both provinces are facing similar challenges in the fields of environment, research and health care, they decided to develop a joint knowledge institute for sustainable economy. In this way, the provincial governments want to share and strengthen their expertise on these issues.
This knowledge institute acts as a platform where research institutions, in collaboration with industry and independent knowledge centers, conduct applied scientific research, build pilots and exchange knowledge and experiences. These solutions contribute to a circular economy and reduce the ecological footprint in both provinces. Through a Task Force China, TUA is coordinating West Flanders efforts together with Province of West Flanders.
In October 2023, TUA West participated in an official mission to China led by Governor Decaluwé as part of the Commemoration of Ferdinand Verbiest.
International mobility
TUA West, together with the Province of West Flanders, stimulates internationalization initiatives in higher education.
As part of the further development of their internationalization, TUA has signed a cooperation agreement with the Howest and VIVES colleges.
The Province of West Flanders also wants to boost the international mobility of students, young graduates, teachers and researchers in an area of work complementary to Erasmus+.
Thus, long-term teaching, internship and research experiences worldwide (outside Europe) and short-term experiences in neighboring regions may qualify for a provincial grant.
