CONQUER

The geographical location of West Flanders, bordering France, the Netherlands, the North Sea and, via the North Sea, the United Kingdom, leads to an ingrained international reflex. A reflex that was significantly under stress with the Brexit. This has a major impact on the strong logistics gateways, especially the port of Zeebrugge, but also the large export potential of numerous West Flanders companies.

Inhoud

With the ERDF project Conquer, POM West Flanders together with TUA, FIT, Unizo and Voka laid the foundation for stronger cooperation to support West Flanders entrepreneurs to manifest themselves on the international market.

Under the heading “West Flanders gateway to Europe,” we focused on two major lines of action:

1) Helping West Flanders entrepreneurs (further) on their way internationally after the Brexit

2) Attracting foreign investors to West Flanders.

With the ambition of becoming the gateway to the European market in a context of internationalization, sustainability and digital transformation.
